Your small group tour will start in Queens at the Queensboro Bridge, then head to Brooklyn to the Williamsburg Bridge.  From there enjoy a 15 minute ride on the East River Ferry to Manhattan.  Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to photograph the Manhattan skyline, the Manhattan Bridge and the Brooklyn Bridge from the water.  After landing in Manhattan, you'll finish your safari by photographing the Brooklyn Bridge from the Manhattan side.  During this photography workshop you will learn how to manage long exposures and color as they relate to night photography, with plenty of opportunities to do trailing lights.  You will also learn how to take great pictures WITHOUT using a flash.

Please Note:  Although a DSLR is preferred, you may use any digital camera with manual overrides; you MUST bring a tripod.  There will be a 1/2 mile walk from the meeting point to the first location and NO restrooms are available during this safari!

COVID-19 PROCEDURES

In New York state, any individual over age 2 and able to medically tolerate a face-covering is required to cover their nose and mouth with a mask or cloth face-covering when in a public place and unable to maintain, or when not maintaining, social distance.  Business owners may deny admittance to individuals who fail to comply with the directive to wear a face covering.

What to Expect on Your Photo Safari

This photo shooting tour begins with a short lesson on composition and lighting, and may include a discussion on technical issues specific to the photo safari locations and other factors. Your instructor will then give you your photography assignments, providing feedback and direction on how to improve your pictures.

What to Bring

  • Your camera, of course! Although a DSLR is preferred, you may use any digital camera with manual overrides. You may also rent a camera from the safari leaders (details provided on your E-Ticket).
  • You MUST bring a tripod.
  • Plenty of memory cards, formatted and ready to go. Always carry a backup!
  • Extra batteries for your camera and flash, if you have one.
  • Your camera’s manual may be helpful.
  • Small pocket-size note pad and pen.
  • Most importantly, bring your learning hats!
  • Please bring only what you need. Unless otherwise stated, DO NOT bring any extra equipment such as luggage or extra bags. Unnecessary equipment will make your photo safari experience less enjoyable!

What to Wear

  • Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing. Summers in NYC are very hot, while winters are very cold. Please dress for the day's weather conditions.
  • Comfortable walking shoes. There will be lots of walking and standing on concrete, so be sure not to wear heels, sandals or any other footwear that might cause you discomfort.

Weather Policy

  • All photo safaris run rain or shine. As the weather is often unpredictable, your guides have learned how to make the best of seemingly difficult situations.
  • Tour itineraries may be changed to adjust for inclement weather.
  • In the event of dangerous weather conditions, you will be permitted to reschedule.

Accessibility Policy

  • All photo safaris are wheelchair-accessible.
  • No accommodations can be made for blind participants.
  • No fee is required for Non-Participants who are assisting guests with physical handicaps, including sign language interpreters. Group sizes are limited, so please be sure to order the Non-Participant rate for each personal assistant that will accompany your party.
