You are purchasing an OPEN TICKET, valid for one redemption during operating hours. The Observatory is open from 8:00 am until 2:00 am daily with the last elevator going up at 1:15 am. Open Tickets are valid for their one redemption through March 31, 2018.

There is a $6.95 USD processing fee per order. This is a flat fee regardless of the number of tickets or tours purchased on an order. There is a service charge per ticket. This charge will be reflected on your summary before you checkout. The total shown at checkout includes any fuel surcharges, service charges and tax. There are no additional charges, unless otherwise specified.

Cancellation Policy: There are no refunds. All sales are final.

Change Fee Policy: If changes are allowed on a tour or activity, a $20.00 per reservation change fee will be applied for any change to a reservation. Please note that some tours and activities do not allow any changes. Date changes can only be made only if we can confirm availability on the new date. While we cannot guarantee any changes can be made, all change requests must be submitted a minimum of 24 hours prior to the tour departure and must be handled on an individual basis through our Reservations Center.

Advice for Visitors

  • Observatory is open until 2:00 am every night for spectacular skyline and nighttime views
  • Enjoy live music on most Thursday through Saturday evenings after 9:00 pm
  • It’s easy to get around when you start at the Heart of NYC. Times Square, Macy’s Madison Square Garden and more are all within walking distance
  • Best time to visit - For more space and less wait, visit between 8:00 am and 10:00 am or after 10:00 pm


The Empire State Building is fully ADA compliant. There are handicapped restrooms on the 86th Floor Observatory and there are also lowered viewing walls and binoculars. Service dogs are allowed throughout the building. Motorized and non-motorized wheelchairs are permitted. The 86th Floor has ramps to make getting around easier and lowered viewing walls so that visitors in chairs can still take in the view.
